Awful! Another reason to sack off Spotify. I’m so sorry this happened.

When I heard that musical artists can have 20 million plays of a song and only get paid $300, I knew there was a new Devil in town. Absolutely repulsive, but there are other platforms to use. Retitle and go somewhere else, and most of all? GET A LAWYER TO OVERSEE THAT NEXT CONTRACT! Protect your own IP. Spotify is desperate for creatives because they are just accountants.

it's astonishing to me that this is legal--I hope at minimum you're able to get the rights to your old episodes to publish them here or elsewhere!

Distribution contracts have become increasingly exploitative to creators—and they have the legal means to enforce that exploitation. I hope you get your work back, and that you can publish it here where you can own your work and even make a living doing it!

I have never used Spotify and no one needs to use it. There are many other options.

IP theft is a criminal offense. Those who commit it are felons, whether they are "officially" prosecuted or not. The IP laws are clear and are meant to support the continued contribution of those who have the gift of creativity and have worked extremely hard in putting it to use. Supporting copy-cats serves no creative or social purpose. It serves only the pathological narcissists who refuse to do their own work - because they want what they aren't able to create and work for on their own - so steal it from those who can and do, which is no different than someone who robs a bank with the excuse it would be just too hard to make that money on their own through hard work. But weak judges who allow these robbers to get away with felonies are just that - weak - and they're themselves breaking the laws when they collude to let IP theft off the hook. Creatives need to join forces to put a stop to this Third-World style refusal to prosecute IP laws.

To put it simply and subtly... F*ck Spotify, they are now no longer worth your time or talent. Move onwards and upwards to bigger and better things

Frankly, I've never heard of your podcast, but I have two points of advice: (1) Contact the Institute for Justice which handles this kind of corporate malfeasance, and (2) listen to Dave Chappelle's experience with Viacom here: https://youtu.be/SIbt3pLI4-A.

That sounds terribly destabilizing. I was recently banned from FB, my account disabled with no warning. Whereas I only have a few thousand followers (not millions) having something--a body of work, a community--just ripped away from you after you've poured time and energy into it hurts. These predatory corporations are out of control. I hope you find a new platform for your work that respects you.

This is a horrible, horrible story. I'm so sorry. And I find myself wondering: define "get in trouble." It is astonishing to me that when creatives come forward about the outrageous behavior of producers etc, we are the ones who worry about getting in trouble. Astonishing. I'm so sorry.

So sorry this happened to you and your co-creators. It really should be termed theft, and isn’t theft of any kind illegal? I know there’s more to it than that, but aside from all the legality, in my opinion, Spotify stole from you all.
